American Revolution Final Project

Valley forge was the military camp inn southeast of Pennsyvania aproximatley 20 miles northwest of Philadelphia where the american contenial army spent 1777 – 1778 winter during the american revolutionary war starvation disease maltrition and exposure killed over 2,500 American soldier by the Febuary 1778 with winter almost settling in with and prospects for campaigning greatly dimishing General George Washington sought Quarters for the men Washington and his troops fought what way to be the last major battle of White marsh in early December devised to pull troops from their present encampment in White Marsh area and move to more secure location for the coming winter  when he arrived at valley forge from France 23,1778 he had with himself a letter of introduction from Ben Franklin Washington saw great promise in the Prussion and almost immediatly asigned him duties as acting inspector General with the task of developing and carrying out an effective training program he was a drill instructor who was full of energy Von Stuben taught the soldiers how to aim a musket correctly charge with bayonets and manuver together in compact ranks.
